What I’ve done over the past 30 years

After studying micro- and molecular biology in Bremen and Glasgow, I worked briefly in my field and realized it wasn’t for me. I then trained to become a PR consultant and, after working in plant engineering first, found my way into communications for IT and telecommunications (ICT). At the end of the last century, PR in this sector began to boom, and specialists were rare.

That worked out well for me, and since I’d always found ICT exciting, I stayed in the industry. I supported people at startups and large corporations, worked in many different contexts and roles—sometimes as a manager overseeing 25 employees, and at other times as a consultant to my clients. A constant part of my work was training executives for interviews, presentations, and crisis communications. I worked with many of them for years, helping them navigate difficult communication situations. At the same time, I had to lead my teams, motivate them, critique them, mediate conflicts, and deal with a wide variety of personalities.

In my work, I always benefited from my dual expertise: On the one hand, I learned in PR how to convey information in a structured way and tailor it to specific audiences. On the other hand, my NLP training taught me that words make up only a small part of communication and that their impact depends heavily on nonverbal cues as well as on how the recipient perceives the world.

Who I work for

I work for established international companies with sales in the billions as well as start-ups, SMEs and freelance professionals.
